Crawford Municipal Art Gallery
- Crawford Municipal Art Gallery incorporates the Old Custom House (to the right of the turret in the picture) built in 1724, which later housed the Royal Cork Institution from 1832 to 1849. In this latter year it was reopened as a Government School of Design.
In 1884 a large extension, designed by Arthur Hill, was harmoniously added. Its principal benefactor was WH Crawford; hence the name this building has since bourne.
It served both art school and gallery until 1979 when the school transferred to Sharman Crawford Street.
Since 1979 this building has prospered as the Crawford Municipal Art Gallery.
The Gallery contains Irish and International
work from 17th century to the present.
