Drombeg Stone Circle
As far as prehistoric monuments are concerned Munster is particularly noted for its Stone Circles.
One of the largest and finest examples is at Drombeg near the village of Glandore, County Cork.
Drombeg Stone Circle.
dates back to about 150BC. 13 of its 17 stones are still standing.
On the Winter Solstice, December 21st the alignment of the circle coinides with the setting sun.
Drombeg Stone Circle is situated 2.6 miles from Rosscarbery on the Glandore road.
