Cork City Marathon

Cork City hosted it’s first marathon since 1986 on 4th June 2007.

The 42.195km (26miles 385yards) Marathon started and finished on St Patrick's Street and covered a single circuit
of Cork city’s suburbs.

Frances Franklin, the Blue Dolphin B&B hostess, is no stranger to Marathon Running.
In the past she ran to raise funds for various charities and this year she ran for
the Asthma Society of Ireland in the 2007 Cork City Marathon
Frances suffers from asthma and on her retirement took up marathon running.
She has found this to have had a positive influence on the control of her asthma
as well as being an excellent means of raising much needed money for charity.
To date she has completed:
  • Dublin Marathon (2001)
  • Paris Marathon (2003)
  • Edinburgh Marathon (2005)
  • London Marathon (2006)
  • Cork City Marathon (2007)
  • BUPA Great North Run (2003/ 2005/ 2006)
  • BUPA Great Ireland Run (2007)
    which are a great testament to her age, fitness and asthma control.
