Bridges in Cork City

  • Cork City Centre is built on an island in the River Lee just upstream from Cork Harbour.
The two channels of the River Lee which embrace the City Centre are spanned by twenty
two public bridges and this gives Cork a distinctive continental air.

Cork City Public Bridges are listed here in order from East to West

Cork Harbour, after Sydney, is one of several harbours which lay claim to the title of
"second largest natural harbour in the world by navigational area".
Other contenders include Halifax Harbour in Canada, and Poole Harbour in England ¹.

Within Cork Harbour are six islands -

  • Great Island
  • Little Island
  • Fota Island
  • Spike Island
  • Haulbowline Island
  • Rocky Island
